Since last couple of years it was being noticed that children of slum area surrounding Adra Railway station of S. E. Railways were becoming school drops. Gradually they were getting drug addicted. Instead of going to school they made engaged themselves in collecting plastic bottles of drinking water, containers etc. thrown by the Railway passengers in and around the railway tracks for selling and thereby to earn some money for purchasing different types of drugs. Thus the children of the area were being spoiled at their budding stage.

                   At this backdrop Kharagpur GRP District came forward to save this little hearts of the said area. A coaching centre named “Kishalaya” was set up by Kharagpur GRP District in the unused Railway quarters of Adra E.F.Lines barrack compound (Chhaigada Math) of this GRP District for these minors astray. On 11th December 2023 “Kishalaya” was inaugurated by SRP, Kharagpur in the august presence of Shri Abhijit Banerjee IPS, SP Purulia and other officers of GRP, RPF and Purulia District. At present total 30 boys and girls of the said slum area are attending the coaching centre. They are getting coaching on main subjects like Mathematics, Bengali, English etc. by IRP, Adra, O/C, Adra GRPS and In-charge of E.F. Lines Adra. Side by side they are learning drawing and music. More significantly those school drops are now going to their schools on regular basis. Books, Pens, Pencil boxes, drawing materials etc. are being provided from the end of this district so that this centre can run smoothly. In-charge Adra E.F. Lines is looking after this centre directly under the close monitoring of SRP, Kharagpur.
